AUSTRALIAN OFF ROAD CAMPERS ARE Australia’s new generation camper trailers that really are ‘AHEAD OF THE REST’. Years of development andtesting in the outback, combined with innovative design strategies have produced a camper that will exceed your expectations.
Our team of qualified trades people use only the finest quality components and production techniques to design and manufacture campers that do more than just look good…..they ensure that they cope easily with the most extreme conditions.
The design of our camper is unique in utilizing a high tensile Supagal laminated chassis – a factor that ensures the chassis will flex in conditions where others break.
Pic Corner body seal showing EPDM pinchweld automotive seal, stainless body locks & stainless catch wear plate.
Our fully welded steel body/chassis structure uses internal baffles to create a monocoque style body that does not flex and achieves maximum strength using a high tensile steel chassis. Combine this with our unique overlocking seal-top mechanism and you’ll enjoy a totally dust and water free body.
Nothing’s escaped our attention, from non-corroding stainless steel anti-burst locks for added strength, to classy stainless steel hood bows, to huge off road brakes, bearings and axles.
The Odyssey features a rugged independent trailing arm coil suspension that enables our campers to traverse any type of terrain – from smooth blacktop to shocking corrugations and anything in between with ease.
With an ODYSSEY you can have total confidence that if you are travelling to remote places you have the most rugged, reliable and totally dust proof camper on the market today. |

SUSPENSION
The Odyssey features a highly sophisticated coil sprung trailing arm suspension system. Springs, shock absorbers, bushes and rebound stops are by Pedders Suspension. The Pedders TrakRyder shock absorbers aredesigned to our specifications to provide maximum articulation of the suspension and maximum control of the vehicle. We have an Australia wide arrangement with Pedders for servicing of our campers.
The suspension us fully adjustable for camber and toe-in, just like your vehicle. This enables accurate factory settings and prolongs tyre life. The suspension is rated at 1800kg and upgraded to 2000kg when marine options are fitted. |

CONSTRUCTION
The Odyssey chassis is manufactured in a pre-stressed jig. It is madewith 3mm wall thickness Supagal RHS that is fully box welded. All fittings are laser-cut for accuracy.
The body is made of 1.6mm Zincaneal steel and is welded to the chassis at strategic points. The body is assembled during the welding procedure in 3 horizontal jigs in order to maintain accuracy. In all 170 laser cut panels are used with accuracy to 0.1mm. This enables a consistently accurate fit and finish of all panels.
Once welded the body and chassis unit is lightly sandblasted, etch primed and powder coated. The powder coating is elecrostatically bonded and baked on at 180 degrees F to give a hard, reliable finish, a process that comes with a 10 year Interpon warranty and meets US, UK and other international specifications.
Powder coating offers dramatic advantages over liquid paint and it has become the preferred finish for most metal surfaces. It has been proven to possess significant durability and resistance to rust, UV rays, abrasion, corrosion, chipping, scratching and chemicals – far superior to an ordinary painted finish. A powder coated surface stays bright with less fading and thick, even coatings are easily achieved without drips or runs and is no reliance on various substrates or layers of paint for adhesion of the painted surface.
Powder coating uses a high zinc containing primer which provides extra protection for steel from corrosion.
A powder coated finish requires less maintenance that a painted one and provides a more attractive, strong and longer lasting finish on your trailer.
In assembly the internal surfaces are lightly sanded for adhesion of the high strength polyurethane sealer. The internal 1.0mm Galvabond steel floors and internal panels are then glued and riveted into place, providing a complete dust proof body. The sealing process is further enhanced by more internal and external sealing around the periphery of the internal panels.
All fittings onto the body are sealed and riveted with blind rivets. Stainless steel bolts and nyloc nuts are used to withstand vibration. Stainless corner cover strips give protection from stone damage. |
ENGINEERING
The ball weights of all models is around 110-120kg – another aspect of the excellent design and engineering of the ODYSSEY. The XR and ZR models have the spare mounted on the drawbar where it is much more easily accessed than one fitted under the trailer. While the underslung spare is a much cheaper system, the disadvantages are firstly, it is susceptible to being spiked and secondly, the winch may seize up if not properly maintained.
The ODYSSEY EXPORT and ODYSSEY EXPORT – SIGNATURE models have a rear swing spare fitted to counterbalance drawbar weight. This feature gives you the peace of mind of knowing that even with fridge, storagebox, gas bottles, jerry cans and alloy rack (if fitted) fully loaded, drawbar weight is still excellent.
Excessive drawbar weight is the result of poor design and as experienced 4W drivers know, it has a detrimental effect on rear suspension and tyres. It causes a nose up attitude in the 4W drive, altering wheel alignment and tyre wear (with the potential for blow-outs) and steering response.
While an expensive option on some campers, our dedication to excellence ensures that on ODYSSEY EXPORT models the rear swing spare is standard equipment.

CANVAS
Billabong 12oz canvas is used exclusively in the Odyssey, a product manufactured by Wax Converter Textiles in Australia for Australian conditions. It is coloured all the way through the fabric, 1/3 of the weight composing the proofing process. It is waterproof in all conditions.
The thread used in tent construction is German made Rasant, chosen because of its consistent quality.
All corners of the tent are reinforced and double stitched and where ever possible zips used are premium YKK brand. Our canvas staff has a combined experience of over 50 years in the tent making industry. |

TENT
Large windows, good head height and excellent airflow are features of all Odyssey tents. The centre hood bow is 2.7M high, windows surround the bed and are the largest possible. Ventilation is further enhanced by an additional new cathedral window.
The tropical roof and awnings on all sides keep the tent area cool in summer, warm in winter and dry in wet weather. The large rear window flap doubles as the roof of the children’s room. |
 |
TROPICAL ROOF
This highly desirable feature of the ODYSSEY is an AUSTRALIAN OFF ROAD CAMPERS first in this format. It dramatically reduces the internal temperature of the tent area and also prevents condensation in cold weather.
The suspension of the tropical roof well off the entirety of the camper roof creates a large air space for excellent air circulation, making the tropical roof extremely effective in its operation. A significant air space is needed between the two layers to achieve the desired insulating effect and on the ODYSSEY this space is 300mm. |
EZY OVERNIGHT AWNING
For quick stops our patented EZY overnight awning really makes life easy and is yet another AUSTRALIAN OFF ROAD camper trailer first. Because it props from the camper requiring no pegs or ropes, and folds with the camper, it can be erected in less than one minute. It folds in easily even with both tropical roof and inner spring mattress in place. An important factor in the design and patent of the EZY awning was the triangulation – the ability to tension the awning back to the camper to enable it to withstand a reasonable amount of wind. This ensures it does not flap about or blow back over the tent in the wind.
With the EZY awning you can be set up ready for a refreshing drink in under two minutes. No other camper offers this incredible flexibility.

THE BED
The ODYSSEY EXPORT – SIGNATURE uses a luxurious 6” genuine queen size inner spring mattress, specifically developed by a Queensland company for AUSTRALIAN OFF ROAD CAMPERS. This mattress comes with a 5 year warranty. The advantages of the inner spring over a budget foam mattress is that it breathes naturally and, with vents on either side, expels body moisture – a major factor in a good night’s sleep.
The bed base is sealed hardwood timber, a natural insulator, with a steel frame to prevent distortion from body weight. |
COUPLING
The DO35 is a new release hitch using the very latest technology. Being self-aligning, it is easy to connect up on uneven surfaces. It has a rating of 3.5 tones, is fitted with replaceable bushes to enable maximum flexibility in all conditions.

HOT WATER HEATER
The hot water heater (ZR, Export and Signature models) is a very efficient gas operated German made Truma unit that is plumbed to both shower and kitchen.
The benefit of this system over diesel systems include:
-
Much quicker to heat – just 10 minutes gives you enough for a couple of hot showers and a hot wash up. Because it heats so quickly the system can be simply turned on just before use.
-
Very efficient on gas. Supplier of this unit, Dometic indicate consumption figures as follows: with 15 minutes useage daily one (1) 4 ½ kg gas bottle would last an extraordinary six (6) months.
-
Whereas the gas hot water system is completely odourless, diesel systems are smelly and waft noxious diesel fumes through either your own or your neighbour’s camp site depending on wind direction.
-
Being a single stand alone unit it makes more economical use of space whereas diesel units typically use 3 separate components which take up more space inside the camper body.
-
Safety is also a consideration. The LPG system is used by 99% of the caravan industry and has been proven over many years to be safe and reliable.
When hooked up to the river Access System you can enjoy unlimited hot water showers pumping from a creek or lake. |
JOCKEY WHEEL
A swing up type, it locks into position in one easy movement. It has a solid non-pneumatic tyre and a capacity of 350kg. Both winding handle and wheel are locked in the upward position to incur minimum damage in off road conditions.
|
 |
DRAWBAR AREA
Handbrake, coupling and jockey wheel are designed to allow the camper to be fitted to all 4WD vehicles. A level ride height is possible as no protruding handbrake is used. Another benefit of this is clear access to the rear cargo area for 4W drive vehicles with large rear swing doors. |
STONE DEFLECTOR
An angled stone deflector is used to deflect stones thrown up by the vehicle. Wider, lower mud flaps are also used to prevent stone damage.
|
 |
WATER TANKS
All models are fitted with a 140 L rear water tank. These are comprised of food grade polyurethane and fitted with food grade hoses. Tanks are custom designed to fit up inside the chassis. Further protection is provided by a galvanized steel shroud.
An second 83L tank is available and is located forward of the axle. The huge capacity offered by both tanks enables extended camping in remote areas. Water is drawn from either tank in turn using a 12 volt Flojet pump at 12 litres per minute capacity. The River Access system allows you to draw water from a creek.

BATTERIES
Odyssey XR and ZR models come with 1 x 100 AMP deep cycle sealed marine battery coupled with a 7amp 7 stage Projecta battery charger. Export models have 2 x 100amp sealed marine batteries with a 25amp Projecta charger. Batteries are mounted internally under the storage drawer so as not to reduce storage space.
Sealed marine batteries are a true deep cycle battery - being able to withstand constant deep discharge without loss of capacity. Anticipated service life is 5-10 years. Once charged they have a shelf life of over 12 months without loss of charge and thus can be stored for long periods without damage. They are of the highest quality and require very little maintenance. |
SOLAR
The solar system used in the ODYSSEY is the best available. The large130W Solar panel is housed in our unique solar cassette, another AUSTRALIAN OFF ROAD CAMPERS design first. The cassette keeps the panel free from dust and stone damage and theft, and drops down to facilitate loading and unloading the panel. The top of the storage box is then available for additional gear such as bikes, a boat trailer or extra chairs and tables..
Setting up the panel is a breeze and again we invented a new system to mount the panel onto a pole that allows for articulation to the sun for maximum exposure. A stainless steel lanyard locks the panel to the chassis for security. This system gives you unlimited power, enabling you to camp in remote places for extended periods. If you wish to camp in the shade a 5 metre lead is available so the panel can be placed in the sun.
This solar set-up is available on all models and is standard equipment on the ODYSSEY EXPORT – SIGNATURE.
An external voltmeter is supplied for easy visual monitoring of battery condition. This is important when using fridges and when storing the camper.

12V SYSTEM
All Odysseys are fitted with 6 LED lights, including 2 internal bed reading lights, and a Flojet pressure water pump. These are protected by a fuse box. There is also an easily accessed 12V isolating switchthat can be activated while traveling or during storage.
In models fitted with water heaters, fridges and inverters a fuse protects each of these separate circuits. |
